MEGASTAR-IIC

10 - 20m dome

MEGASTAR-IIC is an opto-mechanical planetarium projector designed for domes with diameters ranging from 10 to 20 meters. Although even more compact than the MEGASTAR-IIA, it delivers an equally deep and realistic starfield.

A signature feature of the MEGASTAR series is its Milky Way projection, in which even the finest stars—indistinguishable to the naked eye—are projected individually as real star points. The standard configuration projects 10 million stars down to magnitude 12.5.

Optional upgrades include GIGAMASK, capable of projecting more than 1.2 billion stars, and the SWING AXIS, a cradle-type four-axis control system that enhances dynamic motion.

The projector employs a 32-segment optical projection system. Between 21 and 40 bright-star projectors (depending on dome size) reproduce the true colors and brightness of prominent stars with high fidelity.

The main light source is a long-life LED with a lifespan of 30,000 hours, providing a maintenance-free design that eliminates the need for frequent lamp replacement.

Another distinctive feature of MEGASTAR is its electronically controlled Solid-State Shutter, which allows specific areas of the starfield to be masked. This makes it possible to remove stars where digital video images overlap, making the system ideal for hybrid planetariums.

In addition, the system can apply a natural brightness gradient toward the horizon, reproducing atmospheric extinction and allowing audiences to experience a truly realistic “starry landscape.”
