Polish Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte (Poland)

The Polish Naval Academy (PNA)  of the Heroes of Westerplatte is a naval university supervised by the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Poland.
At PNA students and course participants not only gain theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills, since the Academy is equipped with a large number of simulators and laboratories. The students have GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System), navigation, radar, ARPA, hydrography simulators, ship engines, submarine weapons, and gunnery simulators etc. at their disposal.

In cooperation with RSA Cosmos (France) and AB-MICRO (Poland) we installed a planetarium projection system based on opto-mechanical projector “MEGASTAR-Neo II” and two JVC DLA-NZ8 projectors along with sky simulator “StellaDome Pro” from AstroArts (Japan).

Planetarium is also equipped with some telescopes: 9,25″ SCT Celestron AVX reflector, famous 100/1000 mm ZEISS achromatic refractor and so called “school Maksutov” 70/765 mm. Therefore, actual sky observations are also possible from terrace surrounding planetarium.

The planetarium is basically used only for navigational training for PNA students, but in cooperation with local schools, astronomy lessons are occasionally planned for grammar and mid schools.
